- $35.99 annual plan, US App Store

- 1,000 channels and groups, up from 500

What is Telegram Premium?
Telegram Premium is a subscription sold by Telegram that adds extra features to your account and helps fund the app. In December 2024, Telegram's @premium channel announced that more than 12 million users had subscribed.
All Telegram Premium features in 2026
Grouped by what each feature does, based on Telegram's @premium channel, the Telegram Premium FAQ and Telegram's API documentation.
Doubled limits and a fourth account
Premium raises most account limits, from channels and folders to pinned chats, public t.me links, saved GIFs and favorite stickers. Your bio can be twice as long and include a link, and one Telegram app can hold up to 4 accounts. The table below has the exact numbers.
4 GB uploads and faster downloads
Free accounts can send files of up to 2 GB each; Premium raises that to 4 GB. Premium also removes media download speed limits on Telegram's side, though Telegram notes that your device or internet provider can still slow you down.
No sponsored messages
Premium hides the minimalist, non-targeted Sponsored Messages that Telegram shows in some large public channels. Promotional posts that channel owners publish themselves still appear, because they are ordinary channel messages.
Voice-to-text and real-time translation
Premium transcribes voice and video messages into text, which helps when you cannot listen or need to copy an address out of a voice note. It also translates entire chats and channels in real time; free users can translate single messages.
Stickers, emoji, reactions and profile style
- Premium stickers with full-screen effects and custom emoji packs, usable in messages, polls and folder names.
- Reactions with any custom emoji.
- Emoji statuses, animated profile pictures that play inside chats, custom account and profile colors, and alternative app icons.
- Message effects, and chat wallpapers you can set for both sides of a conversation.
- A Premium badge next to your name, which every subscriber shows and cannot turn off.
Privacy controls
- Private message permissions. Limit who can start a chat with you. Contacts and people you message first are not affected.
- Voice message privacy. Block incoming voice and video messages in private chats.
- One-way last seen and read times. Hide yours while still seeing other people's.
- Disable Sharing. Open a user's profile, tap the three-dot menu and choose Disable Sharing to block forwarding, screenshots and saving media in that one-on-one chat.
- Star Messages. Charge a fee in Telegram Stars for messages from people outside your contacts, under Settings > Privacy and Security > Messages.
Stories and boosts
- Stealth mode: erase your views of stories opened in the last 5 minutes and hide your views for the next 25 minutes.
- A permanent viewer list, custom story durations, links and formatting in captions, and saving other users' unprotected stories.
- Your stories are shown first in other users' story lists, and you can watch stories in higher quality.
- A self-paid subscription includes 4 boosts for channels and groups, which give a channel or group extra stories per day, custom reactions, colors and backgrounds.
Organization and productivity
- Advanced chat management: move the default All Chats folder, and automatically archive and hide new chats from non-contacts.
- Tags for Saved Messages, so you can sort notes and links by label.
- Checklists in groups, private chats and Saved Messages, with control over who can tick items or add new ones.
- A Posts tab in search with results from public channels.
- Rich Text Editor for long posts with tables, inline media, headings and quotes.
- 50 times more daily uses of the AI Editor than free accounts get, according to Telegram's API documentation.
Telegram Business
Premium includes Telegram Business at no extra cost. It turns a personal account into a business profile with opening hours and a location, greeting and away messages, quick replies, a custom start page, links that open a chat with a suggested message, and colored folder tags. You manage it in Settings > Telegram Business. Telegram's API docs say connected chatbots now work on free accounts too.

How much does Telegram Premium cost?
Telegram sells Premium as a monthly or annual subscription. As of September 23, 2026, the Telegram listing on the US App Store lists two Premium plans:
| Plan (US App Store) | Price | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Telegram Premium (monthly) | $4.99 | $4.99 |
| Telegram Premium Annual | $35.99 | about $3.00 |
The listing also has a “1x Telegram Premium (One Week)” item at $1.19; Telegram's Premium FAQ does not describe a weekly plan.
Paid yearly, Premium costs about 40% less than 12 monthly payments, which add up to $59.88. Three factors change what you actually pay:
- Where you subscribe. @PremiumBot costs less than the App Store or Google Play, because its payments carry no Apple or Google fees. The bot works only in the direct Android app from telegram.org, Telegram Desktop and the macOS app.
- Your country. Telegram adjusts prices slightly to local living standards, and the final price can include store fees and local taxes.
- Your currency. In @PremiumBot, the first payment follows your phone number's country code and renewals follow the country of your card. In the stores, it follows your Apple or Google account.
One Apple ID or Google account can hold only one active Telegram Premium subscription. For a second Telegram account, use @PremiumBot in a supported app or ask someone to send that account a gift.
How to subscribe to Telegram Premium
- Open Telegram and go to Settings > Telegram Premium.
- Review the feature list and choose the monthly or annual plan.
- Confirm the payment through the App Store, Google Play or, in a direct app, @PremiumBot.
- Check that the Premium badge appears next to your name. The features now work on all your devices.
You can subscribe from any app, even one you rarely use: an iPhone user can pay through @PremiumBot on Telegram Desktop and get every feature on the phone.
How to gift Telegram Premium to a friend
A gifted subscription is prepaid and does not renew. You choose 3, 6 or 12 months, and longer gifts cost less per month. Gifts use a single global rate so they can be sent between any two countries. There are three ways to send one.
In the Telegram app
- Open your friend's profile, tap the three-dot menu and choose Send a Gift or Gift Premium, depending on your app version. You can also start from Settings > Send a Gift.
- Select Telegram Premium and a duration of 3, 6 or 12 months.
- Pay with your app store account or card, or with your Telegram Stars balance.
If Premium is missing from the gift options, the recipient may have limited which gifts they accept under Settings > Privacy and Security > Gifts.
To top up a Stars balance first, see how to buy Telegram Stars. If your friend would rather get Stars than Premium, read how to send Telegram Stars.
On Fragment with crypto
Fragment sells Premium for your own account or for any other user and takes crypto instead of cards. On September 23, 2026, it listed gifts at $11.99 for 3 months, $15.99 for 6 months and $28.99 for 1 year, under a sale badge, so treat these prices as a snapshot. It accepted Gram, the coin of the TON blockchain, plus USDT and USDC on several networks.
- Open the Fragment Premium page and enter the recipient's Telegram username.
- Choose 3 months, 6 months or 1 year.
- Pick a payment method, connect a crypto wallet and confirm the transaction.
The wallet steps are the same as for Stars, covered in our guide to buying Telegram Stars on Fragment.
Through a giveaway
Channel admins can give Premium to subscribers in a giveaway, started from the channel's boost settings or prepaid on Fragment. The channel receives 4 boosts for each subscription given away, and every Premium gift an admin sends adds 3 boosts they can assign to their channel or group.
A modified app or a "free Premium" link cannot activate a real subscription: Premium comes only through the App Store, Google Play, @PremiumBot, Fragment, a gift or a giveaway. Never trade your login code for a Premium offer. Telegram says login codes should never be shared with anyone, including other services or apps.
Is Telegram Premium worth it?
At $4.99 a month, or about $3 a month on the US annual plan, the Telegram Premium benefits that pay off depend on how you use Telegram, not on the length of the feature list.
Premium is worth it if you
- keep hitting the 500-channel, 10-folder or 5-pin limits;
- send video files or archives between 2 GB and 4 GB;
- receive many voice messages and would rather read them;
- read channels or chat in languages you do not speak;
- run a business or a busy creator inbox and need greeting messages, quick replies or Star Messages;
- want private chats where the other person cannot forward or screenshot your messages.
You can skip Premium if you
- mostly chat with friends and family and stay well under the free limits;
- mainly want the stickers and reactions, since you already see the premium ones other people send;
- use a third-party Telegram client that does not support Premium;
- expect it to protect your account: a ban for breaking Telegram's Terms of Service can remove Premium without compensation.
A practical test: pay for one month, note which features you actually used, and move to the annual plan only if you would miss them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get Telegram Premium for free?
Only two ways work: someone gifts you a subscription, or you win a Premium giveaway run by a channel or group you follow. A gift is prepaid for 3, 6 or 12 months and does not renew. When it ends, you can set up your own subscription at your local price or go back to the free plan.
How do I cancel Telegram Premium, and what do I lose?
Cancel with the provider you paid: send /stop to @PremiumBot, open Payments & subscriptions in Google Play, or go to Apple ID settings > Subscriptions on iOS. Premium stays active until the paid period ends. Then folders beyond the first 10 lock, pinned chats beyond 5 are unpinned, GIFs past 200 are hidden, your bio shows only its first 70 characters and the badge disappears.
Does one Premium subscription cover all my accounts and devices?
It covers every device where that account is logged in, on any platform. It does not cover your other accounts: each Telegram account needs its own subscription, and a subscription cannot be transferred. You can still change the phone number on your account without losing Premium, because the subscription belongs to the account, not to the number.
Can friends without Premium see my premium stickers, reactions and 4 GB files?
Yes. Telegram puts no restrictions on communication between Premium and free users. Anyone can download a 4 GB file you upload, watch the full animation of a premium sticker you send and tap a premium reaction you added to increase its count. Free users just cannot send those stickers or start new premium reactions themselves.
Will other people know I pay for Premium?
Yes. The Premium badge appears next to the name of every subscriber and currently cannot be hidden. Other users cannot see how you subscribed, which plan you chose or how much you paid. Telegram also does not store your card details: the payment is handled by Apple, Google or the payment provider behind @PremiumBot.
Does Telegram Premium show who viewed your profile?
No. Telegram's Premium FAQ and the full feature list on the @premium channel include no way to see who opened your profile, and free accounts cannot do it either. The closest Premium feature covers stories: subscribers keep the full list of people who viewed each story, even after it expires.
Why can't I buy Telegram Premium in my country or app?
Telegram says local laws or unsupported payment processors can block Premium in some countries. If @PremiumBot does not respond, you are probably using an App Store or Google Play build, which cannot use the bot. If your payment method is missing, try another subscription option: Premium bought in one app works in all of them.
